We have consecrated ourselves. Are we ready to cross over?
Nau mai, haere mai ki Hui Whakapono 2026—a national, ecumenical gathering of Māori in the faith, centred on worship, prayer, testimony, teaching, fellowship and faith in action under the Lordship of Ihu Karaiti.
The first hui was anchored in Whakatapu — Consecration, from Joshua 3:5, and included the very physical expression of consecration in the moana. It gathered Māori from across iwi, rohe and hāhi around worship, testimony, karakia, healing and Ihu Karaiti. For 2026, Whakawhitihia — Cross Over, from Joshua 3;17, gives us a powerful visual progression to reflect on, as follower of Ihu Karaiti, live out our whakapono in our whanau, communities and regions.
Hui Whakapono offers a spiritually safe, culturally affirming and deeply unifying space where te reo Māori me ōna tikanga are honoured and encouraged. Whānau will gather to encourage each other, listen/hear about what God is doing in our Nation. There will be opportunities to attend practical workshops, karakia, testimony, teaching, whakawhanaungatanga, manaakitanga and ministry.
Kua rite tātou ki te whakawhiti? (Are we ready to cross over?)
He karanga ki te hunga whakapono Māori kia hui anō. (A call for Māori in the faith to gather again.)
